Excellent School

Great School

Was my high school and Sixth form. Being brutally honest here, the teaching was mediocre for most subjects. Many of the old teachers have now left. However, that being said, most students still tend to do very well and the reason is simple. Most of the children that attended were from affluent backgrounds with parents or family members in professional/managerial occupations or Business. Hulme was very much a middle class bubble at times and this came with great benefit. Growing up in such an environment, surrounded by such people you tend to force yourself to do well, aspirations are often higher than your Bluecoat or OSFC counterparts as harsh as that sounds. No matter what the bogus statistics say, academically, Hulmeians always come out on top simply because of the social circles and overall competition between students. So no, sending your child to Hulme will not make them smart, instead it might give them the little kick up the backside they need. Not to say students from other colleges don't do well. But If your thinking of sending your child here, it's safe to say Hulme is your best option in the Oldham/Rochdale/Ashton/Saddleworth areas. If your looking for an exclusively white school (which some people do) then your about 15-20 years too late. Hulme to a great extent is multicultural. There are divides between ethnicities throughout the early years however pupils tend to gel together really really well after year 9 and especially at sixth form (atleast this was the case for me, I attended from 2005-2013 Y5 - Y13)P.s. School dinners need some serious subsidising. P.s. lots of Respect for Mr Budding, Mr Atkins, Mr Byrne, Mr Dalziel, Mrs Beard, Mr Mairs and and a few other absolute legends (these lot knew what they were doing).I'm close to graduating, all that I am or hope to become (academically that is) I owe to Hulme. So thank you!!

Fantastic school. Professional, great teaching staff and management. Highly recommended.

Very good school helps me gain confidence. Coming from a year 8 pupil
